Indian IT's coveted Dataquest IT Person of the Year award for 2010 has been conferred on Pramod Bhasin, president and CEO of Genpact, India's largest BPO company. The award is given by Dataquest, India's oldest and largest IT magazine, published by CyberMedia, every year to an individual for making extraordinary contribution to Indian IT.

The winners are selected by a jury of eminent individuals from IT industry, IT user organizations and academicians among others. Some of the past IT persons of the year include Infosys� NR Narayana Murthy, Wipro�s Azim Premji, NIIT�s Rajendra S Pawar, TCS� FC Kohli, Cognizant�s Lakshmi Narayanan and former IT Secretary N Vittal.

The jury unanimously decided on Pramod Bhasin for his role in discovering the potential of India to provide business services to the world as the head of GE Capital in India and convincing GE to bet on the model which led to the creation of a big opportunity for India in the form of the BPO industry.

Later, he not only drove the growth of the company as an independent entity and achieved higher standards in operational excellence.

As chairman of NASSCOM, Bhasin was instrumental in building the value framework, driving the quality initiative and championed moving to Tier -2 locations.
