Bandit queen: Lawyer Vidya Kale and her male gang arrested for dacoity in Pune

Lawyer Vidya Kale, who is the boss of a male gang, was held 13 cases later. It includes a high profile kidnapping. There are two offences registered against her at the Vishrambaug police station, one each in Kothrud and Samarth police station and nine in the Deccan Gymkhana police station. The first case is for kidnapping.
In 1997, 16-year-old Vidya surprised the city by abducting a girl student of Symbiosis school and keeping the victim in minister Harshawardhan Patilís bungalow.
She graduated to become a lawyer and started a gang with three men, who specialised in extortion and vehicle thefts. She says she studied in ILS Law College, but the police are yet to verify her claim.
