23 escape after daylight jailbreak in Chittorgarh

In a brazen breach of security, 23 inmates of Chittorgarh district jail managed to overpower the prison staff and escape on Thursday. Following the incident, three jail officials, including the deputy superintendent, the chief warden and a security guard, were suspended.
The incident occurred around 6.45 am when the guards opened the main gate of the jail for a truck carrying food items for the staff. As soon as the guards opened the gate, 23 inmates in the open area overpowered them and snatched their rifles. They took the guards at gun-point and locked them in barracks before snatching the keys of the main gate. A few guards tried to offer resistance but the inmates thrashed them and fled.
