Poor Udupi villagers sell their village
Monday, 25th January 2010
People of Megani, a small village in Karnataka's Kundapur taluk have sold their village.
Two years ago, all the eight Ediga families of the village sold their land to a local businessman for Rs 96 lakh.
Their reasons were simple: There is no electricity, no schools and no health centre. About roads, you already know. It is the village that the government forgot when it talked about progress, when it conjured schemes for rural development.
