Price war may make 3G handsets more affordable
Saturday, 28th May 2011
In a bid to increase their share in the price-sensitive, but fast growing, domestic entry-level 3G handset market, players appear to have begun rehearsal for a price war.
The threshold price of some 3G-enabled sets is now ruling as low as Rs 3,500. Flash back to last year-end, when only 3G varieties available were high-end smart phones, such a set would have had price tags in the range between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000.
