Texas Instruments Bangalore designed chip OMAP 4430 for Blackberry PlayBook

Tear down a Blackberry PlayBook � the iPad equivalent recently launched by Canadian phone maker Research In Motion (RIM) � you'd get to the heart of the device: a super-fast system on chip called OMAP 4430 from the labs of Texas Instruments.

Guess what, much of the design and development of the processor was done in the Bangalore research and development centre of Texas Instruments (TI). The firm was the first global technology company to set up a captive R&D unit in India.
