IPL loses TV audience but gains online viewers
Friday, 6th May 2011
According to TAM Sports, Television ratings were down by 22% during the first 26 IPL4 matches. The ratings further went down by 27% for the next 10 matches. But here is an interesting trivia: Online viewership grew by 82% in the first 15 days of the tournament.
The official broadcaster Set Max, claims the viewership has increased by 109 million to 125 million (growth of 14.7%) for the first 25 matches. What do you think is the reason for the increase in viewership against decrease in TV ratings? Here is how it works: The ratings of the programme are not just based on the reach but the amount of time spent on the programme as well.
