Indian firms, MNCs in race for 20 billion dollars worth of deals
Friday, 1st April 2011
For sales honchos at top Indian technology firms, it's a long summer chasing outsourcing contracts worth over $20 billion that are set to expire in next two years.
These contracts, being served by multinationals at present, include Deutsche Bank .s $1.8 billion deal with Siemens , over $600 million contract from UK's Royal & Sun Alliance, British Home Stores currently served by CSC and several other computer hardware management contracts held by IBM.
"It's not David Vs Goliath anymore-we are already winning much more application development contracts which are getting renewed and beating the incumbents," said the sales head at one of the top ten Indian outsourcing firms. "Now the next big battle is for much bigger infrastructure outsourcing contracts where IBM and others have edge because of their hardware offerings," he added.
