According to a study by Info Edge India�s job portal Naukri.com, the job market witnessed a marginal 1 per cent increase in new hiring in October 2010, as compared to a month ago and a growth of 27 per cent as compared to a year ago. JobSpeak, an index that showcases the current job scenario, states that the overall job index in October 2010 was 949, as compared to 943 in September 2010 and 749 in October 2009.

An in-depth analysis shows that the index for the Auto sector stands at 917 in October 2010 which is the highest index for the sector since October 2008. The Oil and Gas sector also clocked impressive growth figures of 12 per cent in October 2010 as compared to a month ago. Telecom, IT- Software and Banking saw marginal declines of 6 per cent, 4 per cent and 2 per cent in October 2010 as compared to September 2010.
