The spouses of government officials trapped in graft cases will also land in trouble, with the Karnataka Lokayukta planning to impose a Mumbai high court ruling to treat spouses as abetting partners.

Lokayukta justice N Santosh Hegde revealed this while announcing the details of simultaneous raids conducted on the houses of seven officials, collectively holding Rs7 crore worth properties more than their known income sources.

The Lokayukta found that the wife of ST Devaraju, managing director of Karnataka Scheduled Caste Development Corporation, owned eight houses and pieces of land. Devaraju had joined the service 12 years ago.
