2G scam: Lobbyist Nira Radia's tapped phone shows links with A Raja
Thursday, 29th April 2010
Revelations of a PR lobbyist, Nira Radia's telephone being placed under observation as part of a CBI investigation into the “2G telecom scam" reverberated in Parliament on Wednesday with both Houses being disrupted as the Opposition demanded an explanation.
Reports that the telephone of Radia, who heads a clutch of PR companies, was tapped over allegations about her role in trying to influence the 2G auction in 2008 and for being in contact with communication minister A Raja, saw AIADMK demand his sacking while other Opposition MPs stormed into the well.
As AIADMK, BJP and Left MPs forced adjournments, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said the government would make statements on 2G spectrum allocation, phone tapping and the IPL controversy after the Finance Bill was passed on Friday.
