IIT Delhi student Pragati was murdered by IIT Roorkee boy friend

In a brutal crime of passion, an IIT student allegedly killed his girlfriend -- also an IITian -- in a hotel room in Shimla, where the two had gone celebrate his birthday during a mid-semester break. The boy later said he committed the act in a fit of rage after the girl told him she had other relationships before the two met.
The police arrested Gaurav Verma, a third-year IIT Roorkee student, from inside an Express train toilet at Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, as he was trying to flee to his hometown early on Sunday morning. He has been charged with the murder of Pragati, a third-year student of textile engineering at IIT Delhi.
